Consuming more than the recommended alcohol unit guidelines could be having short- and long-term effects on your health, and you should consider reducing your alcohol intake. Any reduction in alcohol consumption can help lessen the detrimental health effects of alcohol, improving your mental and physical well-being.
Remember alcohol unit guidelines are not a target to be reached and you should never save up units to be consumed all at once. Try going alcohol-free for a period and see what positive impact it has on you.
If you are struggling to reduce your alcohol consumption or you are concerned about your drinking habits, speak to your doctor, who will help identify strategies for reducing your alcohol consumption and assess you for signs of alcohol-related illness.
