The skin is the body’s largest organ, protecting against heat, sunlight, injury and infection. Skin also helps control body temperature and stores water, fat, and vitamin D.
Enjoying time in the sun while soaking up some vitamin D has health benefits, however, spending too long in the sun can be damaging. More than 90% of skin cancer is caused by over-exposure to UV rays.
This month we will look at the different forms of skin cancer, how it is diagnosed and treated, and what precautions can be taken to prevent it developing.
