Not everyone diagnosed with cervical cancer will have symptoms. When symptoms do appear, they can be easily mistaken for common conditions like menstrual periods and urinary tract infections. That’s why it's important to attend regular HPV cervical screening.
The most common symptoms of cervical cancer include:
- Unusual vaginal bleeding. For example, bleeding between your periods, after sex, or after the menopause
- Vaginal spotting or an unusual discharge that looks or smells different than usual
- Discomfort or pain in your pelvis (anywhere between your belly button and the top of your thighs)
- Pain or discomfort during sexual intercourse
- Needing to urinate more often or experiencing pain when urinating
